Clear the Fuzz
Have you ever rotated a bottle in the medicine cabinet because a guest is coming over? Or positioned a particular book to be more visible on the shelf? Or steered a conversation away from a potentially embarrassing topic? I have.
Anxious? Use Inborn Movements for Mental Fitness
We tend to associate movement with improving the body, and stillness with improving the mind.
But this is artificial. The body -- the organs, the flesh, the cells -- need stillness as much as the mind -- our construct of awareness -- needs movement.
A Gentler Shake Up
Need to shift out of a rut? Or solve a sticky situation?
Here’s a new twist.
What if Loneliness is a body signal like thirst or hunger?
When is the last time you recall feeling lonely? Maybe you can notice a little loneliness somewhere inside you right now?
You may have heard the stats. Science has shown that chronic loneliness is right up there with the health impacts of a pack-a-day cigarette habit. Say what??
Social isolation and loneliness are this era’s dire epidemic. And it needs to be normalized asap.
We are social creatures in separate bodies. Thus, loneliness is UNIVERSAL.
Just like hunger or thirst, a sense of loneliness is a physiological response to an unmet need. Think caveman times. Finding yourself alone was a danger zone.
It’s SoMo Time Again
How about we kick things off with a WEEKLY ONLINE VERSION, to include MOBsters around the world? And if there is demand, I am open to a local, in-person edition.
Whaddya say? Are you curious what these weird movement recipes might do for you? 🤨
Emotional Equality
Well sure, I know you’re just trying to do your job. And yes, I acknowledge I have done nothing but ridicule you, choke (on) you, threaten to off you with compulsive overconsumption if you don’t stay invisible from my awareness -- but that was then, this is now. I am trying something new - bringing the full cast of characters to the stage. Now I invite you into the light, to be seen, in all your gory glory.
Can My Pricing Foster Belonging?
Equitable Pricing is new territory for me. My intention in writing and sharing my thoughts is (1) to force myself to expand my thinking by having to write things down, (2) to initiate community dialogue that supports development of my own and others’ pricing structures, and (3) to stretch my capacity to put things out there before they feel “vetted” -- and risk revealing my ignorance, naivety, and/or embedded biases.
This post is only a first step, tossing a pebble to see what ripples.

Connecting with Your All-Time Boo
“Our only true purpose is self-awareness.”
My first reaction was an eye roll at such a myopic self-absorbed worldview. But now I see the fundamentality of being aware of how I show up in the world, and how it sprouts directly from how I show up with myself, in my thoughts and behaviors. My self-awareness is the seed of every single other thing in my life.
A Paradox of Belonging
We all long to belong, yet we (i) yearn to be different, somehow unique.
I notice myself resisting labels - for fear of impostering, for fear of excluding, for fear of confinement.
I dance, but i am not a Dancer.
Identifying Self-Imposed Constraints
Here’s an exercise to practice being the Creative Agents of Ourselves!

Look at your life.
With gentle, kind curiosity.
How Sedentary Life Zaps Our Pleasure
Sedentary life is addictive. Add a book or a screen? Even more so.
An addiction to sitting, like all addictions, works by reeducating the sensory system. IT RESHAPES EXPERIENCES OF PLEASURE.
Suddenly Gradual
Lately I have been experimenting with Softness, finding ways to be more Soft in my walk, my talk, my listening, my reflection in the mirror. It inspired me to return to a movement distinction I learned in a Creative Dance training years ago, originally facilitated by the late Barbara Mettler, comparing Sudden and Gradual movements.
Where might you be served today by a little more “sudden” energy?
And what could benefit from a little more “gradual?”

Whaddya mean, “Belong to Self?”
We humans, we be SOCIAL. We have a deeply-embedded need to be liked, respected, accepted. Often that need is so strong it drives us to alter our behaviors and decide that certain parts of us should not be revealed. 🙈🙊
Each of us has the power to give attention and care to ALL the parts of “Self” (aka Selves), to accept our Selves.
What does that look like?
What Does Movement Bring You?
I didn’t invent this idea, but it does feel like my own personal gold rush: How we move in our bodies is how we move in our minds, in our Everything.
Now I am fortunate to be able to guide others in exploring their own versions of these connections. We investigate what matters most to them, with generative inquiry, guided experiments, and kind curiosity.
The results?
How Stripping Boosts Belonging
It was 35 degrees outside. Before my brain could get in the way, I started stripping off my clothes and walked straight into the frigid mountain lake.
Lucky #8
This will be my 8th surgery related to being born with a cleft lip and palate. Growing up with a face that brought covert stares or kids asking their parents “what happened to her face?”-- it helped to shape who I am. Each successive surgery changed my appearance, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
These childhood seeds planted my lifelong attention to Belonging. And I am committed to exploring this publicly one day soon, as part of my own work, and to expose the roots of and plant new seeds for Movement of Belonging.
What is Movement of Belonging?
Humans long to belong; the need runs DEEP - like Maslow’s hierarchy deep. And, as you may have seen on one of your screens 😵 we are becoming increasingly separated.
Ripple effects include rapidly declining mental and physical health, which in turn damages our relationships, our businesses, our communities, our everything.
Cure for the Afternoon Draggg
If you’re like me, you start off strong, with a sense of big potential (and maybe some coffee) propelling you into action. But after lunch, you begin to draggggggg. And the distractions multiply.
Are you open to testing a possible solution?
